So my little blog has been neglected lately, and I would like to say Sorry little blog. I have been super busy with work and school and kids and holiday cheer. I love my sparkles today, and thought I would share them with y'all.

I want to take this time to wish each and every one of my blogger friends a very Merry Christmas!! I hope y'all find happiness and hope with each Christmas wish. I hope everyone remembers why we celebrate Christmas, and that we all take the time to remember what Jesus Christ has done for us. Follow Your Heart

So we all know I am on a bit of a journey. One to find myself. Today I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with my mile long to do list- school work, work work, kids, church, husband time, laundry- And there are only so many hours in the day. I am exhausted just thinking about. So I went to pinterest for some inspiration, and what I found there led me to read the Commencement Speech made by Steve Jobs at Stanford in 2005. I know alot of you made have read it recently with the passing of Steve Jobs. I didn't until today. It is a great speech. He was a great man. He changed the world. Reading this speech made me want to work harder- do more- be better. My most favorite part of the speech is this paragraph:

I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

It made me realize that God really does have a plan. Even when we feel like our life is over and life isn't going our way, He knows what is best for us. He sees the big picture. I am going to work hard at remembering the big picture when life seems too overwhelming.

I am a thirty year old mother of two great kids. I constantly worry about them and worry I am not doing enough. But that's every mother's worry, right? I am also a wife to the most wonderful husband ever. He takes such good care of me, and I would be lost without him! I am the girl who is constantly changing her hair (did you see the new bangs?) and loves to go shopping. I love to read and write, although the only reading and writing I am doing at the moment is for school. I work at a bank, and while I love my job, it is not my passion. I am still trying to discover myself and my passions, so you never know what you'll get when you stop by! I try to do a little fashion blogging. So here is today's outfit:

Sweater: American Eagle, Pants: Gap, Shoes: DSW

I am also going to share with you my new favorite recipe. I found it on Pinterest. I am SO adddicted to Pinterest. Anyway, the recipe is for crock pot Buffalo Chicken. It is so Yummy!!

Ingredients:
4 Chicken breasts (thawed or frozen- I usually throw mine in the crockpot frozen)
1 12 oz bottle buffalo wing sauce ( I have used Franks and the Kroger brand -Franks is better but the kids say it is too hot)
1 pkg. dry ranch mix

Place chicken in crockpot. Pour buffalo sauce over chicken. Sprinkle ranch mix on top. Cook for 4 hours on high or 6 hours on low. About 30 min before you eat, shred the chicken with a fork. The chicken will soak up all the sauce and be super juicy. We eat this as sandwhiches on Kings Hawiian bread sandwich rolls. My whole family loves it, and I love it because it's super easy! Ok- so do you ever have outfits that look way better in your head than they do actually on your body? That is they way I feel about this outfit. I had high hopes for it, but it didn't quite deliver. Oh well- better luck next time.

On a totally unrelated note, I am a sad momma today. Today my kids dressed up for school- Book Character Day (aka Halloween). They are out of school tomorrow, so today was a good day for a party. I am sad because today is Emily's last time she will ever dress up for school. Next year she will be at the middle school and I don't think they allow the students to dress up. So as I sit here today typing, I am kinda emotional. My kids are growing up way to fast. They are 10 and 6. She will be 11 soon. I often wonder if I have done enough. Have I spent enough time with them? Have I made enough memories? Have we laughed and giggled enough? The answer is no- but there is still some time. Sometimes I feel like all I do is fuss at them- clean your room, do your homework, don't hit your sister, don't make fun of your brother, put your laundry away. I am trying hard to not be the mom that fusses all the time. Who really cares if there are toys in the floor in their room? One day they will be gone and I will be longing for the messes they leave around. I wish I could take them and put them in a bubble and they would be mine forever. But, then again, it would be very selfish of me not to share them with the world. They are amazing kids.

This is a great quote. I have been trying harder to be a better person. Sometimes it is hard to change your old self into a new, better self. Old habits are hard to kick. My whole outfit came from Kohls. That's right- I am a one stop shopper. At least today anyway. I have been neglecting my blog. I'm sorry. In a world where I can't stop to think most days, my blog has suffered. And I have been lacking inspiration. I have tried so hard to make my blog like other people's blogs. I wanted to be successful like Kendi, or famous like Jessica. Funny like Sydney or just plain cute like Ashley. What I realized was that while all these ladies are fabulous, they are not me. I am trying to make my blog more me and its very hard. Lately I have realized I am a people pleaser. I do things to make others happy. My husband and I were talking a while ago and he noticed the same thing. He said I always do what everyone else wants because I want to make them happy. Then he asked me what my favorite thing to do was. I had no idea. I've spent (almost) my whole adult life doing the things other people wanted to do. I'm not saying I don't enjoy those things, but when asked what I really, truely loved- I don't know. Reading is my passion and it makes me happy and I really, really love a good book. But that is the only thing I do for myself. It's sad, I know. So I'm doing a bit of soul searching. I'm trying to figure out what makes me happy. It's a hard thing to be 30 and not know what your passions are. I have devoted my life to my kids and family, and I wouldn't change that for anything. I feel maybe I never had a chance to discover my passions because I became a mother when I was 19. I wouldn't change that either. I wear the mom hat very well, but I don't want that to be the only hat I wear, because one day (and I'm afraid it will be too soon) my children will be grown.

Hair today, gone tomorrow

Ok that was cheesy. I tried something new with my hair (shock! I know!) and its ok I guess. I don't think my hair is long enough yet. I followed this video that Linda from Rose a la Mode posted. I wore my hair up for the first part of the day, the way she usually sleeps in it.

Then, when I went home for lunch, it had started to fall, so I took it down. It looks ok, but i think it would work better on longer hair. I like how easy it was though. No curling iron, blow dryer, or heat of any kind used.

My hair never holds curl, so the fact that the front is this curly really surprises me! I'll have to keep this in mind as my hair grows!!

I've spent alot of time recently think about my life. What do I want? Its a hard question. At 15, I thought I knew exactly which direction I wanted my life to take. At 20, it was a little less unclear, and now, at 30, I don't know what I want. I love my family and wouldn't change that for anything, but what do I want for me? My kids are growing up fast, and I want to be with them as much as possible. I want to nurture my marriage so it stays strong. But I have been thinking about what I want to be. I want to be an inspiration to those around me. I want my family to be proud of who I am and what I accomplish. I'm just not sure how to get there. I'm tired of being the girl who has great dreams, but never accomplishes them. I am tired of being lazy. I want more from my life. I want my life to have focus and purpose instead of just floating along. Its something I have been struggling with for a while. And I always say- tomorrow I will change. Tomorrow I will start something new. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.... Well we aren't promised tomorrow. I need to say Today and then act on it. Today is the day.

So I got this fabulous dress from Shabby Apple. If you've never browsed their website, you should. Be prepared to fall in love. Just sayin'. Their dresses are adorable, modest, and quality made. The only downfall is they are a bit pricier than I usually like to spend on a dress. I bought two (i had coupons) and I love them both. I will have to let you know about the wash and wear factor after I wash them- yes I'm the girl that just wears her new clothes without washing them first. My mother in law tells me all the time how wrong this is. Oh well. I've been doing 30 years and no harm has been done yet. Anywho- I am sad the weekend is over- it went by too fast. Yesterday was a really emotional day for me. I get emotional on every 9/11. I can't tell you what I did last Tuesday, but I can sure as heck tell you what I was doing Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001. I dropped my 9 month old daughter off at daycare, got in the car, and drove to work. The annoucer broke into the song on the radio to say the first tower had been hit. I went in work and everyone was gathered around the tv. Then the second plane hit. Like every other American that day- I didn't know what to feel- fear, anger. Every time I see the footage or hear something on the radio, I tear up. I always listen to the radio when I get ready in the morning, and yesterday was no exception. I didn't wear mascara to church because I couldn't quit tearin' up while I was getting ready. The radio station I listen to was having a tribute, and the first song of the day I hear is this. I can't hear it on a normal day and not get emotional. It was a very somber day yesterday. I will never forget. I am proud to be an American and everything it stands for.

Thanks to all of you who pulled together yesterday for my friend Kelsi and her family. She had the scan she needed, and the doctors are optomistic about her recovery. They found out her cancer is treatable. Please keep on praying :)

On a totally unrelated note, I have been inspired by Sam at Love Never Fails. This girl is like my blogger soulmate, I think. Similarities between things that have happened in our lives are crazy. Now, here she has started the Live Free Project. In all her posts, its like she knows what I need to hear. So Sam, if you read this. Thanks. Thanks for putting yourself out there so the rest of us can be inspired. Thanks for being braver than me. I hope to make some changes around here, too, although I am not ready to put myself out there just yet. Hang around, though, it won't be long.

Kelsi Caten

I know I haven't posted in a few weeks, but todays post is really important. For those of you who may not know: My dear friend Rosanne Caten has a 17mo old daughter, Kelsi who has recently been diagnosed with cancer throughout her body. They are a very faithful family and know that prayer works. Today they need her to have a ct scan and are afraid they wont get her in. Please pray that Kelsi will get her scan today and continue to pray for her and her family.

Here is the post from our Bishop on Saturday:

We visited with Brian and Rosanne Caten at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital last night. Kelsi had come out of surgery and was resting. The tumor have spread throughout the head and brain area and a CAT scan will be done on Monday to determine if it is in other parts of the body. This cancer is very rare and very aggressive, it is found only 1 in 3,000,000 people. The doctors say that it is "programmed in the DNA" and that nothing could have prevented it. In the meantime the family waits for test results to find out which way to best treat Kelsi. The doctors will take a break from any procedures today to give Kelsi's body a rest from all that has happened. Of course the family is in shock and grief. They have expressed their appreciation for everyone's concern.

So, brothers and sisters I would ask that you join our Ward in fasting for Kelsi and her family. As the Lord said, "...this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting," Matt. 17:21. This family needs a miracle and they feel very strongly that this fast will be a big part of that. They have felt and continue to feel your prayers and support. Sister Caten has said that she will feel good that we will end our fast, together, at the potluck, tomorrow following church.

I know you are like me and want to help or reach out to this family, but you just don't know what to do. It is hard to talk on the phone while at the hospital. They need to be alert and be ready when doctors and nurses come in. So Sister Caten has said that if you want to contact her text would be the best way to do this. As they said last night, prayer, prayer, and prayers. I know that prayers are heard. So if you find yourself wanting to do something and just don't know what to do then please pray and plead with the Lord.

Brothers and Sisters, may the Lord bless us in our fast and I pray that our Father in Heaven will be with this family.

Hello Yello. Glad to see you today. I didn't even know it was yellow day over at Everybody Everywear until Miranda told me. I was so happy!! I love this dress, which you can tell since I wear it all the time!!

Sorry I have been out of pocket on here. I am burnt out. Not with blogging, but with sitting in front of a computer. These summer classes are kicking my tail, along with all the summer activities my kids are busy with- I'm just pooped and don't feel like being creative with clothes. I hope to be better in a few weeks, as I am going to lay on the beach for a whole week and rejuvinate myself!!

Friend Friday: Summer Recipe

Today over at Modly Chic, the lovely Katy has asked us to share our favorite summer recipe. This is a hard one- there are so many good ones!! But my favorite has to be a pasta salad. Here's what you need:

Pasta (I use the colorful vege noodles in corkscrews)
tomatoes
cucumbers
bell peppers
Italian Dressing

All you do is cook your pasta according to the directions on the box. Chop your vegetables into small, bite-size pieces, mix pasta, veges, and italian dressing together and chill. I didn't put amounts of anything because I make it to taste. Its super yummy and super easy to make!! Hope you enjoy!!

I'd also like to say Happy Birthday to my sweet son who turns six today!!!

Awkward:

My wrinkley pants- I just noticed how wrinkley they are when I took my photo. Sorry guys, I'll try to break out my iron more often.
Calling someone I went to school with the wrong name. Then having them stare at you like your an idiot.
Leaving my umbrella at work, then having to fight a monsoon on my lunch break. That's not so much awkward as it is just plain crappy.
Having some guy hit on me at work- this guy thinks he is all that and let me tell you he is not. Then he tries every way he can to get me to flirt with him. Dude, do you not see the ring on my left hand??

Awesome:

The beach vacation I booked! WHOO HOO!! Florida here I come!!!
My new yellow dress that I wore twice in one week. To some, this could fall under the awkward catergory. To me, its awesome.
Fresh strawberries. Love them in all their juicy goodness.
Tomorrow is my baby's 6th birthday! (for those that think this is sad not awesome, I get to have cake therefore its awesome.)
Incentive pay at work. 'Nuff said.

Ok, so today I am breaking the cardinal rule of fashion bloggers: wearing the same dress two days within a week. I know, I know- I am shameless. I just love this dress. Its fun and summery and it makes me feel happy. And lets face it- Who doesn't love to wear something that makes them feel good?

This weekend was great. My family went to a great little place called Lake Winnepesaukah. It's this great little amusement park about an hour from our house that I never knew about. It has been there like 85 years and this is the first time I have been. It was so much fun. It wasn't crowded, we didn't have to wait in long lines for rides, and the big kids loved it as much as the little kids. We will definately be going back!!

I love this dress. Not like it. LOVE IT. It makes me feel sunny. If you have never felt sunny, then you should buy this dress. I went shopping with my mom last night, determined not to buy anything because my closet is overflowing, but came home with this dress. I love all things yellow, so it was a must. Friend Friday: Vacations

This week, Katy from Modly Chic has decided to talk about vacations. Since I LOVE vacation, I thought I'd hop over and link up. You should too!!

1. When it comes to packing for vacation what’s your mantra? I try to pack lightly, despite what my husband says!! I am awful- I usually pack around whatever shoes I want to take. First I pick the shoes, then I plan the outfits around them. I mix and match alot so I don't have to pack so many clothes.

2. What are your must packs? I haven't been on vacation yet this year, but I always have to have some great reads. This year my nook will be going with me so I can have access to tons of books. I always pack some cute dresses for vacation too. My maxi dress will be in my suitcase this year :)

3. What are you happy to leave behind? Anything work related. I like to just disconnect and vege while on vacation. That is one of the joys of vacationing at the beach- time just slows down. You can really get away from all the hustle and bustle while laying on the beach. There is something very theraputic about it.

4. Any packing secrets that help you get everything into one suitcase? I try to roll everything- It seems to fit better. But since I've had kids and their clothes are smaller than mine, I can usually stick my stuff that just won't fit into their bag :)

5. Beach reading… what are you taking with you to read in the sand? I have a whole list of things I want to read- Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, Stories I only Tell My Friends by Rob Lowe, If You Were Here by Jen Lancaster.... my list goes on and on and on- I'm a bit of a bookworm. I'll be laying by the pool, getting my tan on, before vacation so I will read alot this summer. Drives the hubs crazy!!

Heat Wave

Yes, that is the current 7 day forecast for Middle Tennessee. Yes that is 90 degrees everyday. I haven't taken many outfit photos because I feel like they are the same- skirts or dresses and loose fitting tees. It is too hot outside to put on a pair of pants. Summer is officially here in Tennessee. It has been 90+ degrees for the past week. I've been in the pool. I have a sunburn. You will not here me complain, though, because I could be like my poor sister and probably some of my blogger friends and live where there is still a small chance of snow... in June. I am thankful for living in the South. It may be hot and humid, but there is no place I'd rather be!!

Friend Friday: Hair Care

1. How often do you get your hair cut? Way too often, according to my husband. When its short, I cut it about every 4-6 weeks. When I am trying to grow it out..... umm I don't know. I usually don't get that far!! I think the longest I have been between cuts is probably 3 months. Thats like years for me.

2. Do you go to the same stylist each time, try someone new, go to the cheap hair cutting chains or live it up in a salon? I have been going to they same stylist for about a year now. My natural color is dark brown, but I have been blonde, red, orange (accident), and kinda green (accident). If I am going back dark, I will dye it myself. If I am going lighter, I go to the salon. I have been green and orange my trying to lighten my hair myself.

4. The one thing you always do to keep your hair looking great is: Conditioner. And limiting the heat. If I can get away with not using a flat iron on it, i will. Heat tools are very hard on your hair. And i try to limit my blow drying, although with the cut I have now, blow drying is pretty essential.

5. What hair trend do you love and wish you could rock? I love love love J. Lo's hair. And Carrie Underwood. I wish I could have long, thick, full hair. I know their's is probably extensions, tho.

Todays outfit is great. It's super comfy and looks good for work, too. My mom bought this shirt for me a few days ago, and I want to go back and get it in every color!! Its so soft!! It's also orange, which I don't wear much for fear of looking like a pumpkin. So I guess you could say, I'm breaking a rule today.

Last night was the season finale of American Idol, and I have to say, I was pleased with the result. I have been fans of both Lauren and Scotty from the beginning, and seeing them together was great. I'm just wondering if there's a little romance a-brewin off stage for those two.... did anyone else catch the big puckeroo she planted on him after they announced him as winner?? And the "I love you, baby" he gave her while they hugged at the end of his song?? If they're not dating, they should be. They make a super cute couple.

So today I am breaking some style rules of mine: white pants.... see here. I usually only wear my red shoes with dark colored pants, but today I tried them with my white, and I really like the look. I have a some-what nautical look today. My boss actually asked me if I was going sailing today :) I want to go shopping this weekend, but I think I might just make a trip to my Goodwill. I really want a new purse. I really want this one after seeing Keira with it here. I wish my mom would would buy me designer handbags- I am totally jealous of her mom and her purse!! Anyway, I thought maybe I'd check out the Goodwill and see if I could find any treasures.

You all would be proud of me, as I held it together at Kindergarten graduation last night. My little man did so good. He was a sheep in Baa Baa Black Sheep, and he danced like it was nobodys business. They sang lots of cute songs, and got diplomas that had the sweetest poem written on them. I was so proud of my son and all the kids. I always said I wasn't going to be that mom that got all weepy over every little thing, but I have, in fact, turned into that mom. I cry at all the milestones for both of my kids. I want them to stay little forever. I already miss the silliness that comes along with being a toddler. I no longer have toddlers- I have kids. My daughter is about to not be a kid, but a teenager (in 2 1/2 years....EEK!). It makes me sad, but I know they are great kids and will grow up to be great adults. Today is a very sad day for your mom. You are graduating kindergarten. It seems like just yesterday that we couldn't decided what to name you. We finally decided to name you after your great grandpa. When we told Emily we had named you Grady, she said (with all her 4 year old attitude) "You named my brother GRAVY??" She was very relieved when she figured out your name wasn't gravy. We brought you home from the hospital, not knowing who you would become or how you would grow. Looking back now, I can see from the time you were born, you were destined to be our little comedian. You always had a smile on your face. You thrive off making people laugh. You are a daredevil, too. There is nothing too high or too scary for you to do (although I know you get a little scared sometimes, but I won't tell). Today you are 5 years old. Today you have finished your first year of school, and although you have many more to go, I believe you can do anything. You are one of the smartest boys I know. I want you to know today, just like every day, that I am so proud of you. I want to tell you that I believe you can do anything. You can be anything you want to be. I also want to tell you to keep Heavenly Father close to your heart and you can accomplish greatness. You are a good boy and I know Heavenly Father is just as proud of you today as I am. I wish I had something a little more springy for floral day but I haven't added anything like that to my closet yet. There are some cute floral skirts out there that I want to purchase, but I am too cheap to pay full price for them and they aren't on sale yet.
So I finally got all my grades for the semester and I got all A's!! WHOO HOO!! I was a bit worried about one class, but I am so happy I decided to revise my Hamlet paper for it. I would have had a B if I hadn't. Now I can relax until June 6- that's when my summer classes start. A few weeks of freedom!!

Seven Years.....

Seven years ago my life changed forever. Seven years ago I learned what it was like to be truly heartbroken. Seven years ago I learned nothing is forever. Seven years ago I found out how strong I actually was. Seven years ago I learned how important friends are. Seven years ago I lost someone I loved- 3 months almost to the day before our wedding. It was the hardest thing I could ever imagine going through. It was a nightmare, but in real life. I had to tell my 3 year old daughter the only father she knew was gone. I had to tell her it would be ok, when I had no idea if it would. I wanted to curl up and die, just so I could be with him again. I wanted to hear his voice just one more time, I wanted to kiss him just one more time. I will never forget the love we shared. I will never forget the way I felt that day seven years ago. But out of all tragedy comes something special. I found my place in this world because of that day seven years ago. I learned that my Heavenly Father loved ME and because of that I could get through anything. I learned that true love comes from the best friendships. I learned that I could love again. I learned not to take people for granted. Because of this tragedy, I became the person I was meant to be. I am not thankful for the loss of someone I loved, but I am thankful for the lessons I learned because of it.

Something Borrowed

Last night Miranda and I went to see Something Borrowed. Great movie based off an even greater book by Emily Giffin. You have to check it out!! We had a great time. We went to dinner at Applebees before the movie. In the small town we live in, its either Applebees or Mexican. We had some time to kill before the movie, so we window shopped at JC Penney and Cato. We went to the late movie, to avoid all the teenagers that flock to the movies and there were only about 5 other people in the movie!! I am so ready to go see it again. It was soooo great!!

Today is Mother's Day!! Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. I have a great mom. She has always taken great care of us and she gave up so much when us kids were smaller so we could have more. She always taxi'd me and my friends around and made sure I had what I needed. She still helps me out so much today. She is one of my best friends and I am so thankful to call her mom!!!

1. What is your go-to pair of shoes? I have to pick just one?? Oh gosh. I have a pair of sandals I love. They go well with dress clothes, jeans, skirts- whatever. I got them from DSW. I don't have a pic of them, but my bestie Miranda is wearing them in this post of hers. They are great. Other than those shoes, I go to flip flops. They are my weekend shoes!!

2. What goes into your shoe buying decisions? Not alot. I love shoes. If they are cute and I can see wearing them to work and on the weekends or church, then they are mine. I usually wait until they go on sale, though.

3. The majority of the shoes in your closet are what color? Most of my shoes are black. I have alot of brown too. I am trying to branch out. This spring I have purchased a pair of red shoes. It just seems like black and brown go with everything. This blog is teaching me to branch out though!

4. When it comes to designer shoes what are your favorite brands and why? I am very sad to report that I don't own any designer shoes. I have Steve Madden but no real fancy smancy designers like Prada, Gucci, or Jimmy Choo.

Todays outfit is a bit boring. I had a fabulous one picked out, but I didn't get up in time to iron it. Maybe tomorrow I will be cute. Also, it is so cold here today!! This morning it was like 45 degrees. Its May people. I'm ready for shorts and sunshine and swimming pools. Mother Nature seems to have other plans.

This weekend is going to be fabulous. My husband will (hopefully) finally be home from a long week of work away from home. I miss him. Friday night, my Em has a ball game, sat we have a birthday party for my friend Tara's son. I always feel so much better after getting to hang out with Tara. She's a great friend, and always puts God first in her life. I wish I could be more like her. Then, Saturday night I have a date with Miranda. we are going to see Something Borrowed. I just re-read the book. Great book. It's by Emily Giffin. She is a great author and all of her books are fabulous. I am reading the second book, Something Blue right now. Its just as good. Its authors like Emily Giffin that make me want to write. I love hanging out with Miranda. We've been friends for so long, and I am thankful to have her. We always laugh too much and get a little too loud. Anyway, I know it is just Wednesday, but I am so excited about my weekend that I had to start the countdown today!

Uninspired

I have been feeling a bit unispired as of late. I'm not sure why, but I decided to look through my photos for some inpiration. I pulled together pics of some of my favorite outfits, along with my beautiful daughter and my favorite places.

I feel like I am just treading water sometimes- you know, working really hard to stay afloat, but not really accomplishing anything. It just plain 'ole makes you tired. School is out for now (I am taking summer classes) so I hope the breather I get from it will help me. My kids have started softball, and I love to watch them play, so I hope that will help me. I am in need of a vacation, but I don't think its in the cards this year. I am a beach bum. I think I could live there. Maybe one day I will move to the beach and write novels. I am going to use my free time before school starts to write. Write a book, a short story, blog, anything to get my creative juices flowing. I read a quote last week and it made me think. It said: "If you want to do something you will find a way. If you don't, you will find an excuse." I am tired of finding excuses. I am the queen of excuses- I'm too tired, I'm too broke, I'm too old. There are a million out there and I have used them all. But no more- I have made the decision to change. I am tired of sitting around waiting for good things to fall in my lap. I know these pictures are a little fuzzy, but I took them with my cell phone from my car. This is the flooding that happened yesterday in Middle Tennessee. The tree blown over is a result of tornados. I know in the picture the tree doesn't look that big, but I bet those roots are twice as tall as I am. It was a scary long day here in the south yesterday. Over 200 hundred people in 6 states were killed as a result of these massive storms. There were 137 confirmed tornados. Scary stuff. I hope all of my blogger friends are safe today.

Sorry there haven't been any outfit pics or any posts in general lately. I have been feeling uninspired and a little on the grumpy side. Now that school is over for the semester {insert happy dance here} hopefully I can get back to my happy self. Today the sun is shining and I cannot tell you how glad I am that it is. I was starting to have withdrawls. This time of the year really makes me want to be at the beach. I'm not sure if I'll get to go this summer. Hey my loves. Hope you all are doing fabulous this week. I am. I am stoked because its a short week for me. I am off work on Friday!! YAY!!! I have to see if I can find that silly ole rabbit and tell him the kind of candy my kids want in their baskets. He's kind of a hard rabbit to track down this time of year.

So I thrifted this skirt a few months ago, and it still had the tags on it and I paid $3 for it!! WHOO HOO!! Its a high waisted skirt, and I need to find a top to go with it to show that off. I am still so excited about the skirt! I am in the last stretch of classes this semester. I have a final next Monday that is kickng my butt. Its an oral presentation, but I have to turn in a bibliography too. Ugh. So its like writing another paper!! I beginning to ask myself why I chose to be an English major. School is hard, but it makes it worth it when my 10 year ol daughter tells me she is proud of me for working so hard!! She also hates that I'm gone so much, but its nice to know the people you love understand why you do the things you do.

.......so I bought these two books. If you've been following my blog at all, you know I am trying to lose weight and it is SO hard. I love food. I hate exercise. Bad combo for someone trying to lose weight. Then I figured if these two ladies could do it under the Hollywood microscope, then surely I could do it. I am fans of both Allison Sweeney and Candice Cameron. I watch the Biggest Loser everyweek and grew up watching Allison on Days of Our Lives as well. AND I wanted to be D.J. Tanner when I was a kid. I mean, who didn't? These books both had samples I downloaded to my nook, but after reading the samples, I wanted the books. I hope to finally be able to lose some weight. It is going to be hard and I am going to have to watch what I eat. I miss being 23 and being able to eat whatever I wanted and not gain weight. I want to look like this in a bathing suit:

I remember watching Allison struggle with her weight on Days of Our Lives. She is truly an inspiration to me. I know if she can do it, so can I. I get inspired by watching The Biggest Loser every week. I think if a 300 lb woman can lose 100 lbs in 16 weeks, surely I can lose 20. So here it is- my biggest flaw and weakness laid out on the table for all the world to see. I hope I can stick with it and not get lazy and stay on track. Here's to today- the first day of the rest of my life.

I have discovered a few beauty products I absolutely cannot live without. They make my skin all luminous and pretty and I thought I would share my secrets with you today.

1. Mary Kay Liquid Illuminator- this stuff makes it look like i've been in the sun when i haven't. It gives your skin that sun kissed glow. And you only need like a pea size to do your whole face. I wear it under my foundation or powder.

2. Garnier Anti Puff Eye Roller- this is magic in a little roller. If you're like me and have dark circles and puffy eyes all the time, then you should totally check this out. Its tinted, so kinda like concealer, but better. It makes the puffies disappear.

3. Mary Kay Tinted Lip Balm SPF 15- LOVE this stuff. It makes your lips all smooth and soft, while giving you a nice color. And your puckers won't get sunburnt using this stuff.

4. Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner- this eye liner stays in place and lasts all day. And doesn't bug my contacts. Its fabulous. And you can get it at any drug store, which means its affordable.

5. Clinique High Impact Mascara- The best.mascara.in.the.world. No, seriously. I have searched high and low for something that stays on all day, makes my lashes look longer and fuller, and doesn't bug my contacts. This is it. I know its like $14.50, but its so worth it. You will never use another mascara. Promise.

OK, so these are my favorite beauty products right now. As you can tell, I'm not a wear a ton of makeup kinda gal. These products make my morning makeup routine super easy and pretty flawless!! Enjoy!!

I am in love with this dress. It's like pajamas, but work appropriate. It's loose and flowy and long enough I don't have to shave my legs. Because I hate shaving my legs. I'm always in a hurry and miss a furry spot or I cut myself. Anywho- thanks to Liz and Linda over at Everybody Everywear, today is maxi day. Now I just strolled on over there, and there is not a post to link up yet, so I'm not sure what's going on. But either way- I am glad I wore my maxi today.

School is winding down for the semester and I am super glad. This semester has kicked my butt. I am doing well- I have A's in 2 classes so far and a B in the other- but it has been hard. I am used to school being effortless and I have found out really quick upper division classes are not. I will get a small break then its back to class this summer. I am taking 3 classes online. I am closer than I thought to being finished. I should be able to graduate in the Spring of 2013. Yes, I know that is still 2 years away, but for someone taking 2-3 classes a semester, working full time, and taking care of a family, 2 years is hardly a long time. It feels as though my hard work is finally paying off and I am so thrilled. Ok- well its off to work and finish my Hamlet paper, which is due tomorrow. Have a great Tuesday!!

The past 2 days, Jessica over at What I Wore has been channeling her inner '50's housewife with her dresses. This morning, I did the same thing. I've had this dress for a while, but it hasn't fit very well. Now, it fits!! Hoo-RAY for weight loss!!

I have a confession to make. I have a really bad case of Spring fever. It's very contagious. You might catch it just by reading this. The weather here has EVERYTHING to do with my condition. It's sunny and the high today is 75. The tulips are blooming and the grass is green and I really want to be out in it. I'll try to take some pictures today so you can see what I'm talking about. Now, I'm going to try to convince my boss I should be in quarentine. Maybe she'll let me go home. Probably not. Have a great day, my loves!!

FTF: Back Where I Come From......

She is giving us bloggers a chance to tell a little about where we come from and how it has impacted who we are today. I think its a neat idea, so I'm in. I'm always up for talking about myslef ;)

I grew up in a small southern town in Tennessee. I still live there today.

McMinnville, TN to be exact. I used to say when I was little I was getting outta this place. It was soooo boring and I had bigger fish to fry. I was going to New York City and I was going to live in Manhattan and walk in Central Park and have roommates named Rachel and Monica.... but lo and behold, I never made it outside TN. In fact, I have never even been to New York City. I did move to Murfreesboro, TN for about 7 months for school. I attended Middle Tennesse State University. I didn't finish college at that time because I had my children. I now attend MTSU once again, I just drive the 45 min to get there.

I love living in a small southern town. The people are friendlier, the scenery is prettier, and according to my husband, the tea is sweeter. This time of year really makes me love Tennessee. All of the flowers are blooming and the grass is turning green and its just beautiful.

This little town makes me who I am. Everyone knows everyone, and they know your momma and gramma too, so you better be nice!! People wave at strangers while driving down the road. Your best friend from the 7th grade is still your best friend. I used to think I couldn't make a difference in the world unless I was in some big city, working for some big company, doing some big-wig job. Boy was I wrong. The most important thing living in a small town has taught me is I can make a difference anywhere, as long as God is at the head of everything I do.

Can you tell I'm really loving Hamlet? {insert sarcasim here} I have to write a 2000-3000 word paper over it too. Oh the joys of being a college student. This class is kicking my butt. Only 3 weeks to go, only 3 weeks to go, only 3 weeks to go. BUT- then I decided to take 3 classes this summer, so no break for me. They are all online though- so at least I don't have to drive to school. I can work while I lay out by the pool. Yeah, your right, that probably won't happen :)

I am opening up for sugestions for my blog. I need some ideas to keep you guys interested enough to keep coming back!! I plan on making it look prettier, but I wanna know somethings I can do to make it better. Hopefully I can make my pictures better. I got a new laptop (my first) and I am still trying to figure it out. I am thinking of trying photoshop for my editing. We'll see!! So really- leave your ideas!! I'd love to hear them!!

Whole outfit: Apt 9 via Kohls

I have been missing. I have no good excuse. I have been lazy. Now I am back!! Today I am breaking a rule- white pants. I have never worn white pants because I am scared of them. I am afraid my butt will look huge. I am afraid something will get on my huge butt (like dirt or ketchup or something) and draw attention to my butt. But (no pun intented) I broke down and tried on a pair at Kohls last week. I love them. I love the way they make my legs look. My butt does not look huge. I am still scared I will get something on them, but I decided to try anyway. So here's to my rule breakin' attitude!!

On a totally unrelated note, I have a somewhat annoying but kinda funny story to tell. Last night in my Lit class, we got our mid terms back. Most grades weren't what students had hoped, including mine. Thankfully our professor is going to let us revise them for a higher grade. We also found out that we have to turn in a rough draft for our 10 page paper on Hamlet next week. Well that is alot of work, but its upper division college courses, so suck it up. There is this girl in my class that told the professor in a not nice tone that she didn't think she would have time to complete her revision, do her oral presentation for this class (because she decided to wait to give it), and go to the library to do research for this paper. I mean 15 other students, and she's the only one complaining. Then we find out she LIVES ON CAMPUS. So, me and my friend in that class have no sympathy for her. We both work 40 hours a week, have 2 kids, a husband, a house to take care of, church responsibilities, along with school. I have 2 other classes this semester, too. My plate is pretty full. But yet, I am thankful the professor is giving us a chance to revise our midterms, I am thankful that she wants to read our rough drafts to help us focus our papers, I am thankful I have the opportunity to attend college. I really wanted to smack this girl and let her know school is hard. Life is hard. Nothing is going to be handed to you, especially not a degree. Get over it and get to work!!!

My outfit is very neutral today. I bought this sweater thinking it had a cap sleeve and I could throw a cami under it and wear it to work, but when I actually got it- it ended up being sleeveless. So I'm not sure if the tee under works or not, but its comfy.

I started taking some new vitamins that the hubs recommended because I am always tired. More like exhausted. Well, last night I made the mistake of taking them around 7. Not a good idea. They gave me more energy but I bet I didn't sleep 3 hours last night. Note to self: Take vitamins in morning!!

This is actually what I wore on Friday, but I didn't post because I was participating in the bloggers day of silence for Japan. I feel for those people. Its heartbreaking to watch the footage of the catastrophe there.

I had a great weekend. Friday night was spent with my family. We went to Pizza Hut because we like living on the edge. Saturday my family and my sister-in-laws family rode 4-Wheelers all day. It was 78 degrees and beautiful. It was such a fun day. Saturday night it was girls night for Miranda's birthday. It was so much fun!! Four of us had to bring our daughters- the future generation of girls nighters. Yesterday was a great day at church. I love the feeling I get at church. Its like filling up for the week. I wish that full feeling lasted a bit longer. But- you have to go back out into the world with all the nonbelievers and they suck your tank dry fast. Ok, I have to get back to work. We have a couple people not here today, so I actually have a ton of things to do!! Have a great Monday!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Hope you're wearing green today, so you won't get pinched. Sorry I have been on a blogging hiatus this week. I've had alot going on with school and work, and to be honest, I was in a bit of a funk, so I didn't want to blog. Sweater and Shirt: Gap, Pants: JC Penneys, Shoes: DSW

I swear I need to buy stock in the Gap Corp. 80% of what I own comes from Gap or Old Navy. What can I say? I love their clothes. They fit me and my budget. I love things from places like LOFT, but they tend to be a bit pricier. I have some new face/makeup products that I love. I am thinking of sharing them with you. Is that something you all would be interested in? I'm trying to think of new ways to lure more readers in. What is something that i could feature that you would like?

Awkward:

The landscape guy working outside my window right now- he keeps looking in my office.
trying to get to my seat in class and almost running into a guy- then both of us side stepping to let the other by, except we step the same way. Multiple times.
Locking my keys in my house.
having an automatic toliet flush when your not done with your business.
My hiar today- product of oversleeping.

Awesome:

My mom. She is seriously awesome. She helps me out so much with my kids and school and everything. And she always listens to me whine :)
Girls night coming up on Saturday night. I can not wait to hang out with my ladies.
Net Flix. Why have we waited this long to get it? I can watch anything my little heart fancies right there on my Wii.
Lost- my current ~~obsession~~ find on Netflix. I didn't watch it when it was on TV, and I'm glad. I can't imagine having to wait a whole week between episodes.
My nails! They are so long and pretty!! (and yay me for not biting them off)

Teaching and Learning

This weekend was A.MAZ.ING. The weather here was in the low 70s and the sun was out in full force. I wore sandals all weekend. I am so ready for spring!! This weekend I was reminded how we all have a special purpose here. I teach Young Women at church, ages 12-14. Our lesson yesterday was on how to learn our purpose. God saved his strongest children for this time on Earth. He knew it would be hard, because whats good the world sees as evil and whats evil the world sees as good. After what happened in Japan on Friday, I can't help but be grateful for all I have. The lesson yesterday reminded me that I am not doing enough to fulfill my purpose here. I need to be doing more to take care of my brothers and sisters. I need to share His word with those who don't know Him. I need to turn off the TV and start doing something useful with my time. I need to pray more, study more, ponder more so that I more fully understand my purpose here. I love the feeling I have when I leave church. I love the girls I teach and the sweet spirit they have. I love what they teach me. I am so thankful for my calling as a teacher.

My best friend telling me that I have been spelling "akward" wrong on my blog. Apparently it's "Awkward". Oops.
Walking out of my totally cute new heels at work- and looking over to see some guy staring at me because of it.
I use bandaid blister block alot- and i was using it the other day at work and my male coworker butsed me. He asked why I was putting deoderant on my feet. Then I had to explain blister block.
Having to explain female products to my 10 year old daughter. AWK.WARD.

Awesome

The shopping trip Miranda, Emily, and I made on saturday to Chattanooga.
Getting to see another one of my besties and her daughter while on said shopping trip.
Clothes from the Gap- if you don't believe me, check out every outfit this week. Something from the gap everyday. I should be on their payroll.
My husband made me a totinos pizza for dinner the other night, but he made it all fancy by adding extra pepperonis and cheese. Awesome.
American Idol's top 13 last night. They were all so good. I'm rooting for Scottie and Pia and Lauren. Love Pia's voice- hate Pia because I can't sing like that!!!

Dress Up Day

This is not the outfit I had planned for dress up day. I had a cute skirt and some nude heels and a cardi all planned out, but the weather here is soooo nasty today that I changed my mind. I thought I'd show you my take on making a tee shirt work appropriate and dressing it up a bit. We have a pretty business casual dress code where I work, so we can get away with dressing up a tee. I made it more professional by tucking it into my trousers. I love these pants. They are the Perfect Trouser line from the Gap. I have several pairs of them. They are by far my favorite work pants. I also dressed the tee up by adding a sparkly necklace. It kinda makes noise when I walk. I also added some pretty make up today, and my red lipstick. If it weren't raining and windy, I could have dressed this tee up even more by making my hair a little fancier.

In honor of dress up day, I want to share a picture of my beautiful daughter with you all. She was in a pageant a couple weekends ago, and looked amazing. She didn't get called back, but she was ok with that. She loved being able to get dressed up and hang out with her friends.

She says its fun to play princess, no matter how old you are. I'd have to agree with her!!

Today is Polka Dot Day over at Everybody Everywear. This my take on them. This is the only thing with polks dots that I own. I love them, but I am picky about my clothes. In hindsight, looking at these pics, I should have wore my red lipstick again. It seems to make my pictures look better. Oh well. Better luck tomorrow! I should be in a Gap commercial today. I didn't realize until I took photos that everything I am wearing came from there. I bought these shoes on saturday during mine and Miranda's shopping trip. I have been lusting over them for a while. Elaine at Clothed Much has a pair and I have been jealous since she got them. Now I have some :) I had such an amazing weekend. Saturday was a day that I needed. We shopped, met a good friend of ours and her daughter, ate dinner, and laughed alot. I needed it after last week. I am renewed and have a new attitude. Sunday it was cold and rainy, so I went to church, then came home and snuggled in the bed with my hubby. I might have napped and drooled on him too. Oops. Hope everyone has a happy Monday!!

Ok, so I'm a bit cheesy. Who cares? Cheesy Sherry is alot better than Oscar the Grouch Sherry. And we certainly don't want her to come back around. Todays outfit was kinda pulled together- I mean i just grabbed what was clean. Only 2 more outfits to go!!! One will be what I change into to go to school tonight. And the last one will be whatever is clean. Then my closet, my sweet, sweet closet will be back. And I am all ready for my shopping trip with Miranda this weekend. We're not sure where we are going, except Goodwill. It will be fun just to have a girl day. I'm so excited!! Anyway- tomorrow is the day that could change our little family forever. I told you guys that I had pictures living in my camera of some 30/30 outfits. Today is your lucky day my friends, because I rescued these babies last night!! Be prepared for picture over load today. I am bringing you outfits 18-22. I am planning on wearing 2 outfits a day b/c I am ready to kick this challenge out the door. It has proved to be harder than I thought. I picked a few of the wrong items and left out some things I am longing for (like flat shoes- I picked only heels).

I have been MIA because I'm stressed out. School is stressing me out. I have some family things going on that are stressing me out. Stress is interfering with my beauty rest and blogging. I am so sorry. I am a bad 30/30 participant. I plan to snap photos and get the rest of my outfits posted up here. I have truly missed keeping up with all of over the last week. I love ~~stalking you~~ reading your blogs and getting to know you better, and I have missed that. Hopefully next week my stress level will go way down.

I know you all have figured out that my bestie is Miranda from Dispatch Apparel. She has been my partner in crime for about 15 years. We met in 4-H when I was in 6th grade (we were both in 4-H pageant and went to the same hairdresser), but it wasn't til high school that we became inseperable. She has been there for me through all kinds of crazy stuff. My kids call her Aunt Randa. The first time I saw the movie Bride Wars, it reminded me of her. Not because we were bridezillas, but because of the quote at the end. It says:

It was quite a wedding and as I stood there watching I realized something I'd forgotten a long time ago. Sometimes in life there really are bonds formed that can never be broken. Sometimes you really can find that one person who will stand by you no matter what. Maybe you will find it in a spouse and celebrate it with your dream wedding. But there's also the chance that the one person you can count on for a lifetime, the one person who knows you sometimes better than you know yourself is the same person who's been standing beside you all along.

Ok- so why all this nostalgia, you ask. Well I found this last night

We were babies. I was probably 20-22. She was 18-20. I was so skinny. Sometimes I forget how long we've been friends. In high school, people used to ask us if we were sisters because we were always together. Working for the Weekend

Ok- so I am really happy with my outfit today. I forgot I had put this sweater in my 30 items, so today is its first appearance in the 30/30. I plan on changing out of my work clothes tonight to go to a birthday party, so hopefully I can remember to snap some pictures so I can get this challenge outta the way. I'm not loving it so much right now. I think of all kinds of cute outfits using the rest of my closet. I'm ready to have full access again.

I have had some awesome things go on this week and I just want to tell you about them:

My daughter won the 4th grade 4-H county public speaking contest on Monday. Last night she competed in the sub-regional contest and placed 4th!! I am so proud of her!!
I got home from said contest last night and hubs had cleaned the house!! Yay!!
The weather has been beautiful here all week and I have bare legs today- in all their pasty-white glory!!
We got bonus checks at work!! Whoo Hoo!!
My son cleaned his room. By.Him.Self. (He's 5- this is a HUGE deal)

I am so glad it is the weekend. I don't have any plans, but that is the beauty of it. I can lounge around in my pjs, take outfit pics so I can get the challenge outta the way, do homework, and catch up on all my shows. Kinda sounds like I have plans, huh?

30/30- A half way recap

I thought I'd post a recap of the first half of this challenge. I am starting to get burnt out. The weather here has turned nice and springy and I have only wintery clothes to wear. I am also starting to run out of ideas so I need to get my creative cap on and chug through. Life is also crazy with school and work and kids activities that I feel like a chicken with my head cut off. The weather this weekend is supposed to be nice and Monday is a bank holiday so I hope to get some much needed R&R and get caught up on homework, housework and everything in between. A Little Bit of This...

Ok, ok. So I have been MIA for a few days. Sorry. I took a couple days away from technology to regroup. I spent alot of time with my hubby this weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather we have been having here in Tennessee. I have kept up with the 30/30 challenge but don't have any photos to document it. You guys will just have to take my word on this one!! Yesterday was Valentine's Day, and my hubby spoiled me once again. He sent me a dozen long stemmed red roses. Beautiful. Last night my daughter competed in her first county 4-H public speaking contest and she won! We are on our way to the regional contest Thursday night. I hope she does even better there! She love to talk (like her mom) , so speeches come natural to her. I always loved the speech contest in 4-H and did it every year, even throughout high school. Maybe she got the public speaking gene :)

Rude people commenting on my blog- I mean, come on- didn't your momma ever teach you if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all??
Cleaning the snow off my car with a CD case because I couldn't find my ice scraper.
Wearing my snow boots into work while carrying my heels- then having people look at me like I'm crazy for doing so.
This guy at the gas pump the other night- he wanted me to let him pay for my gas with is credit card and me give him cash fjor it so he could buy a money order to send to his sister- this guy was a complete stranger. Thankfully I didn't have any cash so he went away. It was really weird.

The sunshine right now- it is still bitterly cold an snowy but at least the sun is out!!

My new calling in Young Womens at church- I love those girls!!
The 81 I made on my Spanish test- I thought I bombed it- instead I got a B!! Whoo Hoo!!
The 4-H speech my daughter won in her class with about being a good example. I {heart} her.

A Day late and a Dollar short and Weightloss Wednesday

So I'm not wearing this today. I wore this Sunday, but since I hadn't posted it and it is Lady's Dress Up day, I thought I'd post it today! I loved the way this outfit made me feel. I felt pretty and curvy and just really good about myself while wearing it. I wish every outfit did that for me!!! And checkout the sunglasses- thats right folks- the sun was out in full force on Sunday and I took full advantage of it. It was beautiful!! We ate dinner with my husband's family, and the kids played outside with all thier cousins. It was great! Then we all went home and took a nap before the Super Bowl.

This is what I am wearing today for Weightloss Wednesday. I am going to start calling these pants my Wednesday pants because I have worn them 2 wednesdays in a row. With only 30 things in my closet I can wear, on school days I don't have alot to choose from. These are the warmest pants in my 30 so when it is cold, and a chance of snow, and I have to walk around campus tonight- I chooose the warm pants!!

I am so upset- I didn't lose any weight this week. I guess I should be happy I didn't gain any either. I'm not surprised- I didn't work out and I ate junk all weekend. I must get back into a routine. I feel like this funk that I am in is all because of the weather. I know you all are tired of listening to me complain about the weather- but I hate winter. I want to live somewhere tropical. Maybe when I ~~win the lottery~~ get outta school and get a good high paying job, I can buy a winter house in The Keys or somewhere equally tropical.

I took a picture of what I wore yesterday, but instead of uploading it and blogging about it, I took a nap. I will get it off my camera and make sure to post it in my weekly recap. I promise. Today I am doing something I never thought of before I ~~became obsessed~~ starting reading fashion blogs- I am wearing a dress as a skirt. I kinda like it. Its extra warm. Did you all watch any of the Super Bowl last night? I watched the commercials and the half time show. The best commercial for me was the VW commercial where the little boy was dresses as Darth Vader. The dad started the car from inside with the remote and the little Darth boy thought he did. Hilarious. And the half time show was ok- Fergie sounded awful. It was pretty to look at, though, with all the lights. My kids thought it was great. They liked trying to dance like Usher. I should have videoed it. It was commical. Welcome to my home, where I never take pictures. I almost forgot to document day 5 of my 30 for 30. I hardly ever take pictures or post on the weekend, so its going to be hard to me to remember during this challenge! This weekend has been busy already, and with church tomorrow, I'm sure it will be busy too. Last night G had a friend over and E went to a sleepover. I had 2 five year old boys, and my house survived!! After swapping kids back this morning, I went and got my hair did. Then me and E did a little window shopping and mother-daughter time. It was great. We just got home from eating some yummy Mexican food. The hubs has been working on one of his cars all day, so we haven't seen him much. He's been out in his shop. I am so thrilled it is Friday!! You all know how I love my weekends!! Tonight I am trading kids around, though. I am taking an extra five year old home with me and emily is going home with his big sister. My house may not survive 2 five year old boys!! Other than the sleepovers tonight, I have nothing else planned this weekend. Maybe I can get in some snuggle time with my honey before the weekend is over. I am in need of some snuggle time. Between work and school and the stuff my kids do, its hard to snuggle during the week. I miss it, he misses it, but its just a fact of life right now. It is so hard to juggle everything. Sometimes I find myself ready to crawl under a rock for a few days just to get a break. On most days I don't know whether I am coming or going. I don't mean to sound like I'm complaing or whining; its just overwhelming sometimes. I enjoy my life and I am thankful for all the blessings and opportunities I have. It is just alot to take in sometimes! This weekend = relaxation. Hope you all have a great weekend!!!

Walking down a quiet hallway at school and having your shoes make that really loud squeaking noise- then you notice that every classroom you pass, the people are staring out the door at you.
talking about grownup things, then looking over to realize your 10 year old daughter has come into the room.
Running into someone you've known for like 20 years, and not being able to remember thier name when you need to introduce them to your husband, who is standing right next you wondering who your talking to.
Forgetting to do something at work, then having to admit to your boss that you just plain forgot- no good excuse or anything.

My kids- my daughter is absolutely the sweetest kid ever- she is so thoughtful and grownup and I am so proud to be her mommy. My son is the funniest, craziest little boy and he is constantly cracking me up. I am so blessed to have these two munchkins in my family!!

So today is day 3 of the 30/30 challenge and I feel ok so far. It's been pretty easy to just grab things from one section of my closet and go. I'm going to have to do some laundry though. I need to keep it all clean and ready to go so I don't feel like I'm just settlinng for an outfit. For those of you doing the challenge- How's it going? Weightloss Wednesday

Well, kids, its official. I have lost 5 lbs all together!! Whoo Hoo!! Only 15 more to go!! I feel like this outfit doesn't show my weightloss- probably because of the layers. It's cold outside today. It has been fairly warm here the past few days, and we woke up today to the high only being 32. At least we don't have snow like most of the country has. Today is the first day of the 30 for 30 challenge, and it was easy peasy getting dressed. Ask me in 20 days and I may tell you a different story!! Did you notice I am wearing a skinny belt? I never wear skinny belts- I can't make them look right, but today it worked. Yay me!! I'm a little nervous about 30 pieces of clothing for 30 days. It doesn't seem like alot. I will just have to remix them really well, which I'm not great at. If I find an outfit I like, I usually want to wear it the same way over and over. This challenge will make me stop doing that. It will make me see what is in my closet in a totally different way. Or it will make me miserable. But I'm hoping for the first option- it's much more pleasant. So, for all you remixers out there- how was day one? Do you feel you picked the right pieces?? Good luck to you all!!!

I'm so happy today! The weather this weekend was absolutely beautiful and I spent most of my time outside. Today it is kinda rainy, but that's ok! So I have chosen my 30 pieces, but I haven't had a chance to upload them yet. My hubby was on the computer last night when I took the pictures, so I guess I'll be doing it tonight when I get home from school. Saturday, I ate dinner with my brother, his girl friend, and my parents. We ate a Japanese steak house that had a habatchi grill. I have never been to one, and the show was so neat!! We went without any kids, but my kids would have loved it! I'll have to take them back. After we ate, I went thrifting. I bought the skirt I am wearing today, and a few other things. I love this skirt, but I'm not sure what to wear with it. What do you think? What would you style it with??

As I was scurrying around this morning, trying to find something cute and worthy of wearing on Friday, I found this skirt. Found not in the sense that it was lost, but in the sense that I totally forgot about it. I've had it for probably eight years. And I probably haven't worn it in 2 years. It has survived all of my closet clean outs, though, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I loved it so much this morning when I put it on!! So, when I decided I was going to be wearing this skirt, I tried on probably 5 different shirts with it- I tried black and white and green and gray and finally decided red looked the best. I absolutely love the way this outfit turned out. It makes me feel pretty, and after that, who needs anything else? Now if I could just get my hair on the same page as my clothes..........

Why, I think it is the sun. The sun? I almost forgot what it looked like. It's so beautiful out today. Too bad I didn't dress for the occasion. I'm not really feeling my outfit today. I based this outfit off my new shoes. I wanted to wear them, but I'm not sure I did such a good job at showcasing their cuteness. I feel like my pants are too short, my belly is too big, and I just all around am NOT feeling this outfit. You ever have days like that? I seem to more often than not. I'm not happy with my body on most days, but that is where weightloss Wednesday comes in. I am hoping that by losing some of this excess baggage, I will feel better about myself. I just want to put clothes on and have them fit me like they were meant to. Maybe I am asking too much. Maybe I'm just having a bad day and really wanna go eat a chocolate cupcake. But I won't.

Weightloss Wednesday

Here we are at Weightloss Wednesday again. And this week, I am proud to say that I have lost some weight.
My current weight is: 152 lbs

I lost 4 pounds!! Whoo Hoo!!!! I give all the credit for this weeks loss to having the flu. I didn't eat for 3 days. I only went to the gym once, so I know it is not because of that. I hope this cough goes away so I can get back to running. I am attempting to run a 5k on March 5th with my fabulous sister in law. I need to get training!!

It is snowing again today. Ugh. My kids didn't have school once again. They haven't had a full week of school since before Christmas. My daughter actually cried this morning because she just wanted to go to school. You know you've had too much snow when the kids are all tired of snow days. On a happier note, they got thier report cards yesterday. Emily got all As, as usual. Grady got mostly +, kindergarden has + - system. He got - in using time wisely and talking at appropriate times. I guess he likes to talk and goof off. At least he's mastered all the skills!!

Today I am feeling much better, so I decided to dress up a little. There is no better way to make yourself feel better than to look cute. I've already gotten compliments from a couple people at work, so my idea is working!! And I thought I better dress up today, because tomorrow there is more of that nasty, four- letter word in the forecast. You know the one I'm talking about {snow}. I'm tired of snow. I don't know how all of you that live in the north or midwest or anywhere that it snows alot deal with it. I'm ready for summer and flip flop weather!!

A little about my outfit today. I recently moved some of the things in my upstairs closet into the huge closet in the basement that my husband made. It made for more room so I could actually see what I had. This shirt was one of the things that got moved to the basement and I forgot about it. Last night, as I was trying to get my clothes ready, I found it. Yay for new clothes without spending any money! This skirt I got at a local discount store called Factory Connection. They have lots of name brand stuff like American Eagle, plus some unheard of brands too. It is all very reasonably priced too. I've had it for a few years. My shoes are actually new. My other black heels broke, so I had to invest in a new pair. These aren't as comfy as the others, but maybe they will be after I break them in!!

I have decided to participate in Kendi's Winter 30 for 30 challenge. My bestie, Miranda is going to particiapte with me. Maybe I will have better luck this go around since I am not trying to do it alone!! It begins next Tuesday. I'm a little nervous!! I hope I can pick some great pieces so I don't get bored with my outfits!! Is anyone else doing the challenge this time??

Hello, friends! I am so happy to be back among the land of the living!! I've had the flu, and let me tell ya, it is NOT fun. I'm still feeling a little under the weather, so I will spare you all the awful pictures of me with with big bags under my eyes and a not so interesting outfit!!. Today, I will share with you a few of my favorite things: daisys, sunshine, the beach, and mexican food. I love daisys. They are my all time favorite flower. I think I love them so much because they remind me of summer- my favorite season!! I love sunshine. It makes me feel good. It is shining here today, which is a good thing. I hate winter, because the sun hardly ever comes out. I love laying in the pool, soaking up the rays. There is nothing better. Well, one thing better- laying on the beach, soaking up rays!! I am a beach bum. There is something so theraputic about laying on the beach, listening to the waves. My soul needs that! Thankfully, my husband and children do too, so we go to the beach about once a year. I'd go more if I could afford it!! And last, Mexican food. I could eat it everyday! I did when I was pregnant. Guess that is why I'm still trying to lose baby weight after 5 years!! Now, eating mexican food on the beach in the sun with daisies on the table with my beautiful family- that sounds heavenly right now. Hurry up summer- I can't take much more of the cold!!!

I am still feeling a little under the weather today, but I managed to pull a semi- cute outfit outta my closet. I was going to wear a skirt, but I have class tonight and didn't want to trek all over campus in a skirt and heels. My feet thank me. So you probably noticed that today is Weightloss Wednesday. This is something new I am going to try. I am determined to lose at least 20 lbs by my birthday (July 2), and I am hoping this will help me. Each Wednesday I am going to weigh myself and post my progress. This is very scary, but I hope by doing this, you all will hold me accountable. It is one thing to disaapoint yourself, but when you've got a whole blogger world out there watching, it's another. So here it goes, folks.

My starting weight is: 156 pounds

If any of you are trying to shed some pounds, let me know. We can work on this goal together. Maybe next week I'll try to have one of those linky things up so we can share our stories in one spot!! If you have any trade secrets or recipes for weight loss, please help me out. I've been needing to shed this extra weight for about 5 years. It baby weight and I've just carried it around. Ok- so today there is no outfit post. I'm not feeling it- I kinda feel like I've been hit by a truck, so I just grabbed the first thing I saw today. I thought I would, however, share with you some other photos that have been living in my camera until this weekend. This first picutre is from New Year's Eve at my brothers house. This is my brother, his fabulous little lady Misty, me, and my hubs. Hubs is not drunk or high, he always looks that way in pictures. I blame it on years of working night shift, even though he doesn't work nights anymore.

This next photo is from our snowday last Monday. This is all I wore all day- it was warm and we played outside and sledded for a long time. My daughter and I decided that we needed to wear our sunglasses to keep the snow from hitting our eyes. It kinda felt like pins hitting your face when we sledded behind the 4 wheeler.

Now for the funny one- The Hubs left his shoes on the front porch in the window sill. They were muddy, so I wouldn't let him track them in the house, and he didn't want the dogs to carry them off, so he put them in the window. Well now 2 birds have taken up residence in the boot. They are waiting patiently for you to come up the porch stairs so they can attack. I'm just kidding, they only attack if you get within a couple feet of them. When they hear you come up the stairs, they poke thier little heads out and stare you down. Kinda creepy. Sorry this pic isn't the greatest, but I wasn't getting any close to the nest. I didn't want to get flogged.

It's Friday!! YAY!!! AND I have a 3 day weekend because of MLK day ob Monday. Gotta love bank holidays!! I don't have any big, exciting plans, but tomorrow is my anniversay! The hubs and I usually go to Gatlinburg, TN for our anniversary, with no kids, but not this year. The horrible weather and my husband's lack of work because of it mean no trip this year. I'm ok with that. The kids are spending the night at Gramma's house, so we can have a date. We will probably end up going out to eat and to a movie or something of that nature. We will celebrate no matter what!! Hope you all have a great weekend. I'm going to send you off with a picture of me and the hubs that was taken at our good friends' wedding. He was is in it. And had to wear a tux. Yummy. He was incredibly handsome :)

Coming back from lunch, only to have cops in the parking lot looking for something, then staring at me- Excuse me? Is it a crime to eat lunch?
Ordering my lunch at Subway, getting to the checkout, not being able to find my debit card. Embarrasing. Then I get back to the car, only to discover it is in my coat pocket.
Pointing my car remote to unlock the doors, going to get in my car, the doors still locked, wondering why I can't get in- only to realize I am standing next to the WRONG black Altima. (In my defense- There were 2 parked side by side and it was cold- I went to the closest one- Not mine)

Snow, snow, and more SNOW

I know I have been MIA in the blogger world since Friday. I have good reason, I swear. It snowed here. Like 8 inches at my house. That's alot of snow for this Southern Girl. Tennessee {and pretty much all southern states} are not equipped for this much snow. On Monday, I was snowed in. I couldn't get my car out of my driveway. My husband tried to take me in his big ole 4 wheel drive, but we about slid in a ditch. Twice. He turned around and went back home. We had a snow day. My kids have never seen this much snow. We played in it, had snowball fights, attempted to build a snowman- but the kids wanted me to build it while they watched- no thanks. We went sledding. Except in Tennessee, alot of us don't own actual sleds so we make do with what we have. We used an old truck hood. Tied to the 4-wheeler. Yes, it was probably dangerous, but it was oh so much fun!!! So my outfit today is all about warmth. The high today is only 25. I know all you friends that live in the north or Midwest are making fun of me right now, but I'm telling ya- this doesn't happen in Tennessee. This is what it looked like at my house on Monday

I wish my pictures were better today. I've been taking them with my cellphone, then editing them with photobucket. My company won't let me plug my camera into my work computer, so I make do with what I've got. I could take them with my camera, then blog at home, but usually I am too ~~lazy~~ busy to do so. Anyway- I have wanted to try the whole socks sticking out of your boots since I saw Kendi and Tania and do it. And I fell in love with these boots after I saw Sydney with them. I love just about everything these ladies wear. My problem was that I never found socks that would fit around my calves. You all remember my calf complex right? Well it applys to knee socks too. Then, last night, lo and behold, I found the softest, most stretchy, fairly thick knee socks at Target. And I fell in love. I just got one pair, to make sure they would fit around my ~~tree trunks~~ calves and still be able to zip my boots. And, as you can see, it worked!! Its a great day in my world. And its Friday~ can't get much better than a cute outfit on Friday!! Happy Weekend everyone!! Tell me what your plans are because I have none. Ok- I lied. I plan on lounging in pajama pants and reading some good books this weekend :)

Today I want to blog about my friends. I have the best friends a girl could EVER ask for. They are always there for me when I need them. This year, one of my goals on my 29 beofre 30 list is to be a better friend. I want to be there for them. I want to listen better. I want to stop making everything all about me. There is a quote from the very end of the movie Bride Wars, and I love it. It makes me think of my girls everytime:

This is the way I feel about my friends. They know me better than I know me. They always know how to cheer me up, make me laugh, and give me just what I need. They are my soulmates. Its January 5, and I am trying my hardest to scratch things off my 29 before 30 list. I have sucessfully managed to avoid cokes and fastfood. I hope I can keep that up!! I am also working on planning my girls trip and losing 20 lbs. Its still early, so I am still pretty motivated. My daughter, who is 10, keeps saying, "I don't think you need to lose any weight mom. You're just perfect." Ha- She wants something :) I don't have alot to blog about today, and I need to get back to my day job. Welcome to 2011, fellow blogger friends!! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!! I did, although it wasn't long enough. I didn't have big New Year's Eve plans. My hubby, children, and I went to visit my brother and his family. I'll post pics as soon as I get them off my camera. We had a good time. It was warm enough here that my brother fired up the grill and made us some hotdogs! I wish it was still warm, but the heat wave was short lived. Back to reality of 40 degree highs and 20 degree lows. Is it spring time yet??

I'm still determined to be better this year, so today, after work, I am going home to let Jillian Michaels kick my butt with her 30 day shred. Maybe I'll lose that 20 lbs really quick!! I will let you know tomorrow if I can walk!! Today is also the first day of the no cokes and fastfood. I don't count sprite and subway in those. I will probably be living off those! Today, however, I brought my lunch to work. The hubs made some super yummy supper last night~ I have leftovers :) Tonight I think we will have hamburgers. Or Tacos. I know, I know- not real healthy, but its always healthier to cook them at home instead of buying fastfood!!

Ok. So I know what your thinking~These items are not in her 30 for 30. And you are right. No I did not get them for Christmas. I have put the 30 for 30 on hold. It is not because it is too hard or anything, but I have my reasons. Reason 1: I hate doing laundry. Reason 2: My husband hates practically everything I picked for my 30. Reason 3: I wanna make my hubby happy. Ok- so those may not be good reasons to you, but to me they are. And I have another big reason. I want to get back to being me. I have been reading all these fashion and lifestyle blogs and think the bloggers behind them are FABULOUS. So fabulous, in fact, that I wanted to be like them. And while Sydney and Kendi and Elaine and all the other blogs I follow are great, they are not me. And I want to get back to being me. So, from now on, you may not get the most fashion forward daily posts from me, but you will get me. I want to be the best me I can be. I know it sounds cheesy, but that is my goal. To always, always, always be true to who I am and what I believe. So, for now, the 30 for 30 challenge is on hold so I can rediscover who I am. So if you are still there after reading my whiny blog today, then hold on- we might be in for a bumpy ride :)

I {heart} surprises

Todays outfit is simple~ I would wear a tee shirt and jeans everyday if I could!! Notice the bags under my eyes? Those are there because i stayed out til 2 am. On a work night. I'm such a rebel. Why did I do such a thing? Because my husband is the greatest, Thats why. He totally surprised me last night with tickets to see Garth Brooks. No, your eyes did not deceive you. I said Garth Brooks. He did 9 shows in Nashville in 6 days with all the proceeds going to the Nashville Flood Relief. Nashville got hit with a major flood in May 2010 and there are still alot of people out of their homes. Garth sold out 9 shows to help these people. This concert was one of the best I've ever been to. An added bonus? Trisha Yearwood. And she sang "She's in Love with the Boy." My favorite song. It was great. And just to make you even more jealous, I'll share some pictures with you

....Just like the ones I've never had..... Ok, so most of you know by now that I live in Tennessee. And we never have snow on Christmas. NE.VER. I mean, every year the poor weather forecasters always throw in like a 10% chance of snow on Christmas, just to get the little kiddies hopes up (and mine!) and it never snows. Its usually like 50. BUT this year, there is a 70% chance of snow on Christmas!! It will be fabulous if it snows on Christmas. Mainly because I don't have to go to work, so I can play in it. Yes I am just like a kid. Snowmen, snowball fights, and sledding with my kids and hubby make my heart happy. So heres to doing that snow dance(you know the one where you put underwear on your head and run outside, do three turns, and a jumping jack) so we can have a white Christmas!!

Ok- so I am waaaayyyy outta my comfort zone today with these purple tights. They were a gift from my Bestie, Miranda. This outfit is kinda inspired by one Sydney rocked in her 30 for 30. I have to say though, I feel kinda like Barney- or a purple people eater. But getting outside your comfort zone is what this challenge is all about, right?

Yesterday Brittney reminded me of something I could blog about, because soemtimes I have bloggers block (you know like writers blog, but with your blog). So anyway, today I will tell you about my calf complex. Its annoying. I danced and cheered as a teenager, therefore my calves were always big and muscular. Fastforward ten years and here we are. My legs are no longer big and muscular, they are just big. I have tree trunk legs. Have no idea what tree trunk legs are? They are the same size all the way down. This proves to be difficult when trying to find knee boots. My calves don't fit in most. Its very depressing. Its also hard to find knee socks that fit around my tree trunks. I am hoping that running will help my calves. I run a little now, but would like to run everyday when the weather gets nice again.

5 more days til Christmas and I am sooo excited!! I love watching my children open presents and talking about the Savior's birth and listening to my children tell me the story of Christ's birth. That makes my heart happy.
On an unhappy note, I woke up this morning feeling a little under the weather. I've got a nasty head cold. I wish I coulda stayed in bed but no such luck. I just hope its gone by Thursday. Thats when all the Christmas festivies begin taking place in my family. You can tell how rotten I felt this morning by looking at my socks- they are navy and my pants and shoes are black. Ooops. I was glad for the 30 for 30 to begin today because i didn't have to think to hard about getting dressed. I feel like I have made some good choices, so we'll see how they pan out. 30 for 30 items

After much dilberation, and alot of back and forth- I have decided on my 30 items. I decided NOT to include tanks/camis in my items because, like tights, I wouldn't wear them without something over them. I am adding a new rule to my 30 for 30 though. I can not shop for 30 days BUT if I get some new clothes for Christmas I am allowed to add them to my 30 items. So I may end up having 35 or something. I will post the new items here if I recieve any. Ok, kids, it looks like I will be going alone in this. I haven't had any takers to do it with me. I will begin on Monday, so stay tuned for 30 fabulous{i hope} outfits coming your way!!!
